Successful 2011

As 2011 draws to a close, Citizens to Protect PA Jobs wants to thank you for your support. Your grassroots involvement is making a positive impact on the Commonwealth's future.

Over the past year, we scored some major victories and realized progress on key legislation, and now we have momentum to accomplish more in 2012, all in the effort to boost private-sector job creation and secure economic growth.

Major Victories in 2011:

Enactment of the Fair Share Act, a lawsuit abuse reform measure that begins to restore fairness and balance to a legal system that discourages business investment and job growth.

Enactment of commonsense unemployment compensation reforms that will begin to shore up the system through annual cost savings.

Adoption of a fiscally responsible state budget that will start putting Pennsylvania on the path to prosperity without mortgaging the future.

Enactment of property tax reforms that require taxpayer approval for school district tax increases above the inflation rate.

Momentum for 2012:

Further responsible reforms to the unemployment compensation system to address the massive $4 billion debt to the federal government.

Additional lawsuit abuse reforms, including venue reform and “sorry works” legislation, to make our broken legal system fair to everyone.

Quick enactment of a responsible Marcellus Shale oversight bill that brings certainty to the oil and gas industry and allows it to move forward in an environmentally sound way, bringing jobs and direct and indirect economic benefits to all Pennsylvanians.

The responsible privatization of certain government programs and services in order to save taxpayers’ money and improve efficiency.

Real education reforms, including school choice; the expansion of the Education Improvement Tax Credit; the authorization of more charter schools; and improvements to the teacher evaluation process to take into account student achievement.
